Job Title: Technical Writer/Document Controller
Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Technical Writer/Document Controller to join our team. The ideal candidate will work closely with our technical staff to create clear, useful, and consistent documentation that makes our products easier to use and supports our Quality Management System (QMS). This role is crucial in maintaining high standards of documentation and contributing to continuous improvement of our technical processes.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Documentation Development and Management
- Collaborate with technical staff to create and standardise formats for documenting procedures and processes.
- Organize and write supporting documents for products, ensuring clarity and consistency.
- Utilise various mediums such as photographs, drawings, diagrams, animations, and charts to enhance user understanding.
- Maintain rigorous revision control of the company’s controlled documents and ensure secure provision to customers as part of our QMS.
2. Continuous Improvement and Usability Feedback
- Gather and incorporate feedback from customers, engineers, suppliers and manufacturers to continuously improve technical documentation.
3. Document Revision and Control
- Regularly revise documents to address new issues and ensure up-to-date accuracy.
- Manage document updates and revisions, adhering to standards and procedures.
4. Technical Writing and Reporting
- Plan, develop, write, edit, proofread, and finalise engineering reports, manuals, technical design specifications, and test manuals.
- Analyse documents for adherence to standards and procedures.
5. Communication and Collaboration
- Work effectively with various teams and stakeholders, ensuring clear communication and collaboration.
- Possess excellent English written and verbal communication skills.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Degree in English, Technical Writing, or a related field. Alternatively, proven working knowledge and experience in technical writing may be considered.
- Strong proficiency in MS Office.
- Exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to write in an explanatory and procedural style for multiple audiences.
- Experience in a similar role, preferably in a technical or engineering environment.
Desirable Skills:
- Knowledge of Quality Management Systems and documentation requirements.
- Experience in using documentation management software or systems.
